The
MultiPep RS is an automated multiple synthesizer based on a pipetting robot operated by a dedicated PC-Software. Synthesis is performed in plates or in disposable columns containing derivatized resin. Alternatively, for large screening projects, hundreds of peptides can be synthesized on membranes (SPOT method) or on individual dissolvable discs for
CelluSpots™ production (peptide arrays on coated microscope slides).
The MultiPep RS was designed specifically for small scale peptide synthesis, starting at 1 micro mole and with a routine 5 micro mole scale. The 72 column module performs the synthesis in individual columns at a scale of 25-100 micromoles. Reagent and solvent volumes have been well adapted to the different scales. A single probe picks up reagents and distributes them to the wells of the reaction module as defined by sequence and chemistry parameters. The synthesis is performed in disposable 96 well filter plates or individual columns for convenient cleaning and work-up. Amino acid solutions are activated by addition of activator and base in individual mixing vials before distribution. Reagents are held in the reaction wells or columns and are extracted by vacuum applied to the bottom of the reaction module. A manifold connected to a separate syringe drive is used to wash 8 wells or 6 columns at a time with solvent.
Standard configuration:
- Plate Module: small scale; up to 384 (4x 96) peptides at 1-10 µmol (standard configuration)
