InsituPro VS
One system for whole mounts and sections

The InsituPro VS was the successor of the world renowned InsituPro and will be replaced by the InsituPro VSi in August 2007. It is designed to serve as a flexible platform to automate in situ hybridization and in situ immunodetection on up to 96 whole mounts or vibratome sections or up to 60 thin sections mounted on glass slides. Each specimen, tissue or slide can be analyzed with an individual probe or primary antibody. In addition, the InsituPro VS can be used for automating serial incubation procedures such as X-Gal staining or GUS staining.

The following steps of a typical manual in situ protocol can be automated by the instrument:
  • Rehydration of specimens or slides
  • Permeation with proteinase K or detergents
  • Postfixation
  • Prehybridization
  • Hybridization with individual probes or antibodies
  • Posthybridization washes
  • Blocking and antibody incubation
  • All washing steps
All samples can be treated with individual probes or antibodies. This allows the user to perform expression screens or other experiments using different probes. In addition, a single run can have a variety of parameters for individual steps (e.g. permeation), allowing specimens at different stages with different requirements to be processed in parallel.

Many laboratories worldwide are using the InsituPro VS on all common model organisms such as mouse, chicken, Xenopus, zebrafish, medaka, Drosophila, sea urchin, Ciona and Arabidopsis.
